Role Summary

I became a teacher because I wanted to "make a difference"! It sounds so cheesy and it even made me cringe when I said it, but it was true! I had been working in the world of retail management, and quickly realised that making money for big business was not what I believed in, and quickly realised that working with children was my calling.

I have worked in Secondary education for 36 years, and held a multitude of roles in that time:

Teacher of French, Spanish and Music

Head of Department

Advanced Skills Teacher (often working in ITT at Plymouth Marjon University)

Specialist Leader in Education

CPD Lead

Local Authority Lead for KS3 strategy, and also for NQTs (now ECTs)

Recently, I moved into Higher Education full time, and now have the opportunity to influence and support others to be that teacher that all children deserve. My aim is also to ensure that MFL remains an exciting and accessible subject.
